tado° V3+ is a previous-generation family. It can still suit an existing V3+/V3/V2 installation or verified clearance purchase, but it is not the default choice for a new system.
V3+ and tado X are separate systems
tado X uses Matter over Thread. Its thermostats, bridges and add-ons are not compatible with V3+/V3/V2 hardware. Do not buy an X add-on for a V3+ home, or a V3+ add-on for an X home.
Compatibility and ongoing cost
Use tado’s exact compatibility flow for the boiler and UK receiver. Core scheduling works without a paid plan; Auto-Assist is optional. Confirm the current subscription price, clearance stock, included receiver, warranty and add-on availability before buying.
Evidence note
Smart Home UK has no accessible notes, photographs, purchase records or measurements supporting the former full-winter Vaillant test. Those measured savings and first-person claims have been removed.
