Editorial Policy

Our standard

Smart Home UK publishes research-led guidance for UK households. We use primary manufacturer, regulator and standards-body sources where possible, check current UK availability and label unresolved conflicts instead of guessing.

Testing and evidence

We distinguish documented hands-on work from research based on specifications, compatibility, current availability and clearly attributed external evidence. Unless an article identifies the product, dates, method and supporting records for a hands-on test, treat it as research-led.

Commercial links

Affiliate commission does not purchase a ranking. Every commercial link should identify the exact product or clearly state that it is a retailer search. Prices and promotions must be dated and rechecked at the basket.

Corrections

Material errors are corrected when verified. Updated dates should reflect substantive review, not cosmetic changes. Safety, legal, medical and financial topics are framed as general information and route readers to current authoritative guidance.

AI and automation

Automation may assist discovery, checking and drafting, but publication decisions require human editorial accountability, source review and release checks.
