Verdict
Choose Echo Show 8 when a camera, Alexa calling or Ring viewing is a deliberate requirement. Choose Nest Hub 2nd gen for the Google ecosystem and a camera-free display. Neither is universally better, and a camera or security subscription is a separate cost.
