Tapo’s “45 minutes of direct sunlight a day” statement is based on defined lab and usage conditions, not a promise for a shaded UK winter installation. Survey sun exposure across the year and retain a practical charging route. Its 24/7 capture mode reduces capture frequency when idle, so it should not be represented as the same thing as a mains-powered continuous-video recorder.
Buy it if: mains cabling is difficult, the mounting point has dependable sunlight and you accept battery-camera capture limits.
